To maintain the optimum performance, the following is a summary of our product care and maintenance kit that will keep your Duralco products looking beautiful and operating smoothly for many years. It is necessary to take some time to clean and inspect them.
Aluminum Windows and Doors / Shower Enclosures
Frames
- Powdercoating is one of the most durable color coatings available and, with minimal effort, it will provide you with many years of excellent service. Simply use a clean dry cloth or mild detergent solution to clean the surface.
- Whenever you wash your Duralco windows and doors, ensure that any dirt deposits are removed from the aluminum frames. It is the impurities or salt in the air that causes the deterioration over time, not the quality of the aluminum frames themselves.
- You can use a good quality, soft bristled, window washing brush or soft sponge or towel to clean and dry the surface.
- Do not under any circumstances use abrasive type of cleaning agents or any abrasive cleaning materials as this will severely damage the surface.
Glass
- The best way to keep the glass clean is to squeegee the glass habitually. Clean the glass surface regularly with clean cloth and small amount of mild detergent as required. Use soft sponge, soft towel, or squeegee to clean and dry surfaces.
- For stubborn stains, commercial glass cleaning products may be necessary. We have available glass cleaners that can assist in maintaining the original beauty of the glass. Glass cleaners can be applied on the glass but not on the frame. Do not allow cleaning solution to dry on the surface. Do not use abrasive type of cleaning agents surface.
- Do not use sharp instruments to clean your glass. Sharp instruments can score the glass, which will lead to cracking.
- Bio-Clean Water Stain Remover
The bio-clean water stain remover is a professional strength cleaner successfully used in hospitals, hotels and other facilities with difficult-to-clean surfaces.
Hardware
- All hardware and accessories of Duralco products are made of non-corrosive materials that require little maintenance.
- To ensure proper and long term operation, keep the hinges and slide tracks free of dirt and debris. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they will retain dirt and dust. Do not allow paint or varnish to drip on the tracks. Do not paint or varnish any vinyl components, hardware or locks.
- Do not allow harsh abrasives, chemical solutions, or chemical vapors to come in contact with the product hardware.
Window Coverings
Duralco window coverings are made of maintenance-free mechanism that allow panels to operate smoothly. The slats, louvers and fabrics have special coatings to retain its shape and repel dirt.
General Guidelines:
- Care should be practiced in operating your blinds. Do not use excessive force when lifting or tilting the blinds. Slowly turn the control.
- Feather dusting or clean cloth can help keep them looking new. Spills and stains can be lightly blotted with a cloth or damp sponge. More difficult stains may require gentle washing with mild soap
- There is no need to take down your blinds when cleaning. You may remove dust from the slats using a feather duster, clean dry or damp cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, you may also use vacuum cleaners. Care must be observed when vacuuming aluminum slats or soft fabrics as this may cause crease or damage.
- You may also use mild soap with water for stubborn dirt. Do not use any abrasive type of cleaning agents.
- When cleaning wood blinds, use a feather duster or dry cloth to clean the slats. Avoid using very damp cloth as this may damage the wood surface. You may also use oil-base wood claner.
- When dealing with fabrics, you may use a wet sponge with a mild detergent to remove stubborn dirt.
